So, I come back from vacation and what to I find here at Greater Media Boston? Why, it's our brand new automated restrooms! I'm talkin' automatic flushing, automatic soap dispenser, automatic water dispensation, automatic paper towel dispenser! What…no bidet?
It's not that I don't appreciate modern conveniences, it's just that there are some things I actually don't mind doing myself and flushing the damn toilet, washing my hands with soap and water, and drying them with a paper towel are some of those things! The time I waste waving my hands in front of the towel and soap dispensers could have been spent flushing my own toilet and perhaps even straightening out my hair!
These are nice inventions but are they necessary? Why? The paper towels are still all over the floor, the soap dispensers still run out of soap, and every now and then there's still a big DO NOT USE sign on one of the stalls. Just because there's some new thing on the market doesn't mean you have to buy and install it! Sometimes a person just wants to go in and use the facilities without making a big production of it.
