Sign, Sign, Everywhere a Sign!

"Sign, sign everywhere a sign, blocking out the scenery, breaking my mind, do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign"...um, not really. I often wonder what it's like for out-of-towners who come to Boston (well, pretty much, most of Massachusetts) and attempt to navigate their way around our fine state. Who's in charge of the signage here? Mr. Magoo?

I've lived here since 1977 and I can't tell you how many times I've wound up "taking the scenic route". I once even drove the wrong way on a one way on route 99 heading towards Everett and yes, I was sober. I mistakenly thought with the new tunnel system they would surely make it easier for us to find our way around...nope! You've traveled to other states. You've noticed their clearly marked street signs and route numbers.

As much as I love my job in radio, if the state would pay me, I would gladly drive all over Massachusetts and fix ALL of the signage. The first thing on my agenda would be to make a decision...is it route 95 north, 128 north or 93 south. PICK ONE!!!! And I would trim the tree that is BLOCKING the sign for 90 west off of Sorrow Drive East AND I would make it very clear on Route 1 south WHICH EXIT TO TAKE FOR THE TED WILLIAMS TUNNEL!!! So I won't wind up driving over the Tobin when I don't want to!! And that's just for starters.

It's the little things...that just make life easier...and maybe even cut down on road rage? Or not...
